Predaceous Diving Beetle (maybe)

I caught this at night by a bright light. Even though it was far from water, I figured it as a diving beetle. But when I plopped in in some water, it doggy paddled in a panic. Looking online, I still think it's a diving beetle, but who knows. It was huge, whatever it was.
